The forbidden nature of sexuality in cinema
Sex and even desire sometimes have a hidden, almost forbidden side. This is how the world of cinema has portrayed this facet through these films, which in many cases are already cult films.
1. American Beauty
This film starring Kevin Spacey is a genre in itself. What is forbidden here is the desire of Lester, the protagonist who is in love with his teenage daughter's best friend. The film has a background that goes further and talks about people's understanding or lack thereof, human communication, etc.
2. Lolita
This film is based on Nabokov's novel and has been adapted to the big screen twice, the last time starring Jeremy Irons. In this story, an older man falls in love with a teenager, Lolita. Both will go through all kinds of situations to live an absolutely forbidden romance. Without a doubt, a work that explains the pain of passion like no other.
3. Caligula
Its protagonists claim that this film ended their careers by attempting to show uncensored sex. Malcolm McDowell, also known for his role in “A Clockwork Orange,” gives a great performance that is overshadowed by the uncomfortable sex scenes that show the excesses of this emperor.
4. Last Tango in Paris
This film talks about how far sexual passion can go. This film is also known because Marlon Brando had unsimulated sexual relations with Maria Schneider in which he used butter as lubricant. An act of rape, as she confessed and the director of the film himself eventually admitted.
5. Girl, interrupted
This film starring Brittany Murphy raises various psychological problems of people who may have experienced an incestuous relationship. In the film, we see how her own colleagues constantly remind her of this until they finally lead her to commit suicide.
6. Hard Candy
This film starring Ellen Page shows a young woman who exchanges messages with an older man with whom she ends up having a meeting. When she goes to his house, she sedates him to torture him. Jeff makes the situation worse by eliminating any trace of further pedophilia, since the young woman is less, from her future. This film shows like no other the putrefaction to which the human mind can reach due to different disturbances.
